Cat’s Art Show…

Randy and I went to an art show put on by one of my friends, Cat, to raise money for a charity to help people with Klippel-Trenaunay Syndrome (KT).  She had lots of her artwork on display and up for bidding.

Me, Cat, and Juliana

Friends all through school and college roommates

It was so great to see both of them and chat.  I get to see Juliana a lot more now that she lives closer, but Cat lives far away now and it had been years since I had seen her.

Randy was the good natured photographer for us girls.

Toward the end Cat got up and spoke about her disease and her life.  Thankfully her niece had handed out tissues beforehand.

Randy and I were fortunate enough to get the winning bid on one of her pieces of artwork.  It is so my style with bright fun colors.  I loved every single piece, but that one piece inparticular was screaming my name so I had to bid on it and was fortunate enough to get it.

I love you Cat.  You are always in my prayers and hope we are able to stay in touch.

My Birthday….

I’m a little behind in posting…obviously.  I’m going to do some quick catchup work on posting some of the photos I have stashed away on my computer and have finally had the opportunity to compress and edit.

For my birthday Randy let me choose what we did for the day.

It involved water and some physical exertion.

We had a lot of fun in the sun and on the water.

Next was thrift stores and lunch….it was a really fun day.

Nancy’s Baby Shower…

It was baby shower time Saturday.  We had so much fun with all of us girls getting together again.  It seems the only time we get together anymore is if someone is getting married or having a baby.

After the shower we all met up at a local pizza joint for lunch.  I could go to lunch with the girls with the understanding that I was to bring home pizza for Randy….then everyone was happy.

Family Togetherness…

We had the whole family together over the weekend.  It is so much fun when we all get together.  Maybe a little overwhelming at times, but definitely fun.

We had big cousins!

We had little cousins!

We had parenting lessons!

We need to keep working on it though!

All in all it was a very fun day with lots of laughs.  Hopefully we can all do it again soon!

Eric Church…OKC…

Yep, once again we hit the concert scene to see Eric Church.  This would be our third Eric Church concert since fall (Charlotte, NC at Lowe’s Motor Speedway and The Cotillion Ballroom in Wichita, KS).  He is just so much fun live.  This time we had Meet & Greet passes, so we got to go backstage before the concert started.

We went to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to the Diamond Ballroom for the big event.

Aw, he is so wonderful!

They it was time for a group shot.

Some wonderful Oklahomans saved our places in the second row so after the meet & greet we were led back down to our places in front of the stage.  (Thank you Amanda and Shannon!)

We finished watching the end of the opening act, the Joel Wilson Band.  They were OKC locals and really good.  Then came the wait.  We had already waited for the long overdue opening act to grace the stage about an hour and 15 minutes late.  Then we waited and waited and waited for Eric Church and his band to take the stage.  We had just seen the guy.  We knew he was ready….not sure what the holdup was, but it was worth the wait.

He put on an amazing show as usual.

And we were surrounded by lots of fun people.

We headed home early the next morning.  Mom watched our animals for the overnighter so we needed to get home and give her a break.  We took the backroads home rather than the interstate.  It was beautiful country and a fun drive home compared the I-35 route.

Lacey’s Baby Shower…

Sunday I had a baby shower for a friend of mine.  There were tons of people and presents. It was so fun seeing and visiting with everyone.  I don’t get out much and rarely get to see friends unless it is a special occasion (i.e. baby shower).  So it was a nice afternoon for me. Away…..Doing girlie things……Dressing up….I didn’t realize I had missed all of that a little bit.

Here is the mama-to-be with her sisters and mom.

My aunt and uncle had stopped by the day before in the midst of our faucet project.  I was in carhart overalls, a carhart coat, muck boots, the works.  She commented on how nicely I clean up which was a nice reminder of what it’s like to be girlie.

August in pictures…

I’m going to play catchup with some pictures now that my camera is reading my memory card again.

Here is a Hoosier cabinet passed along for my cousin.  It was my great grandma’s, and I’m excited to be the one to acquire it.

My latest library books!

What’s living under our house.  I call him our “Army Pig.”

One of the many moths that flutter around our four o’clocks.

More herbs for winter use.

A fun little home in Michigan on our way home from a wedding.

Me (left) and a friend, Sarah in Lawrence, Kansas.

Last night I was home alone while Randy was visiting the chiropractor for a back injury.  So, the critters and I decide (well, I decided they really had no choice) to do a photo shoot.  Here is what we came up with.

Ash playing ball.

Koal just being entirely too cute!

Thai, “on you mark, get set…..”

Rooster on the run!

One of our ewe lambs, Minnie, keeping cool by the stock tank.  We don’t name all our sheep, but this little girl was a bottle baby.

That pretty much sums up August for us.  The garden hasn’t been all that impressive.  Luckily, there is a farmer’s market right across the street from where I work (I’m headed there today).  So, I can stock up on fresh produce from other peoples good fortune.

Oh, and the fall weather came and went here.  We are back into the mid-upper nineties for the rest of the week.  It was good while it lasted.

Have a wonderful day!
